- Noise Problems with NE/2-32 in Select IBM Micro Channel Servers
-
- In IBM Model 95 and some Model 80 A21 and A31 machines, an NE/2-32 can lose
- its on-board POS configuration information, causing the adapter to stop
- functioning. This problem is manifested by the NetWare 386 v3.10 revision
- A console message "Possible cable disconnect detected on NE/2-23," when
- running thin Ethernet. When running thick ethernet it is not likely that
- this error will appear; however, stations will lose their connections or will
- not be allowed to connect to the server. This problem may also occur at
- startup, in which case the LAN driver will not initialize.
-
- The problem is caused by noise from the adapter and from the machine. This
- problem has been corrected in revision F of the NE/2-32.
-
- When encountering these or related problems with an NE/2-32 in an IBM Model
- 95 or Model 80, an upgrade to an NE/2-32 revision F is available through
- Federal Technologies RMA Department at (800)-366-4526.
